Arthritis is a very common bone and joint problem affecting a majority of people above the age of 50. Though sometimes arthritis symptoms start showing up in 30s as well, it can often be cured and controlled at that stage. There are more than 100 types and forms of arthritis but some of the most common types are osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gouty arthritis and septic arthritis.

How Arthritis Develops

Aging causes natural wear and tear of bones and joints. This wear and tear is felt by mild joint pain which often subsides by using OTC drugs or ointments. At this stage, the patient should be alarmed and arthritis treatment or diagnosis must be started. The pain is usually due to minor inflammation which keeps on aggravating and results in full blown arthritis in any of the above mentioned arthritis forms. Arthritis development may take place due to infection or injury also for which age does not make a difference. Arthritis due to infection is called Septic Arthritis.
