Pacific Defense acquires defense technology provider Spear Research

Pacific Defense, a provider of military-use electromagnetic spectrum technology solutions, has acquired New Hampshire-based technology company Spear Research for an undisclosed price.

Spear Research is focused on developing electronic warfare, signals intelligence, and autonomous networked sensor systems.

The company is said to bring an experienced and innovative engineers whose core competencies are in RF engineering, autonomous command and control, advanced signal processing, and system integration.

Pacific Defense’s platform which includes Spectranetix and Perceptronics, is said to bring quick adoption of best of breed capabilities into AI/ML enabled high-performance radio frequency based systems. On the other hand, Spear Research is claimed to be a key enabler to providing full scale, low risk solutions to the DoD and select global customers.

According to Pacific Defense, the addition of Spear Research also furthers its leadership role in the defense industry for advanced military open systems architecture Standards, which also includes the Army’s C4ISR Modular Open Suite of Standards (CMOSS), and the Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA) specifications of the Air Force.

Furthermore, the expertise of Spear Research in real-time digital signal processing is expected to augment the CMOSS/SOSA systems of Pacific Defense with SIGINT/ELINT customer applications.

Pacific Defense’s lead investors are Emerald Lake Capital Management and HCI Equity Partners.
