LG Electronics plans to unveil a new indoor gardening appliance at the upcoming CES 2020 in Las Vegas in a move to foray into the indoor gardening business.
The home gardening cultivator will be displayed at the consumer electronics show to be held from January 7-10 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
According to the home electronics company, the built-in column-style indoor gardening system uses advanced light, an all-in-one seed packages, temperature and water control, and a growth-monitoring app to enable users to cultivate their indoor gardens.
The new LG indoor gardening appliance is said to help in growing crisp, fresh herbs, and vegetables throughout the year.
By using flexible modules, the appliance is said to replicate optimal outdoor conditions by matching the temperature inside the insulated cabinet precisely with the time of day.
The indoor gardening appliance features LED lights, forced air circulation, and wick-based water management that helps seeds to quickly transform into ingredients for delicious recipes and dishes, said LG electronics.
The home electronics company claims that the advanced gardening system can hold up to 24 all-in-one seed packages depending on their variety. This will help grow enough produce for a family of four, said LG Electronics.
The company stated: “LG’s leadership and know-how in appliance technologies are apparent in the indoor gardening cultivator. A key component of the automated gardening solution is LG’s non-circulating water supply technology, which evenly distributes the exact amount of water that the plant packages require.
“This core technology prevents algae growth and prevents unpleasant odors for a hygienic environment where natural herbs and leafy vegetables can grow.”
The home gardening cultivator comes with a companion smartphone app that helps users in managing and monitoring their plants. The companion app is also said to offer guidance at each step for the users to have a successful harvest every time.
Apart from the seeds of choice, the all-in-one seed packages include peat moss and fertilizer to make it easy for immediate planting. LG Electronics said that initial packages will include 20 different varieties such as romaine and other types of lettuce, chicory, arugula, and basil.
