IOCL awards EPCC contracts to McDermott for Haldia and Barauni refineries

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has awarded two separate engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) contracts to McDermott International for the former’s Haldia Refinery and the Barauni Refinery.

Under the first EPCC contract, McDermott International will be responsible for a new diesel hydrotreating unit and related facilities for the Barauni Refinery expansion project in Bihar.

The second EPCC contract is for a catalytic dewaxing unit and related facilities at the Haldia Refinery in West Bengal.

According to McDermott International, the catalytic dewaxing unit will enable the production of base oil which can be applied in finished lubricants.

The scope of McDermott International’s work across the Haldia Refinery and the Barauni Refinery includes project management, residual process design, detailed engineering, fabrication, procurement, construction, followed by transportation, mechanical completion, and finally commissioning.

The company said that work will begin in Q2 2021.
