IKEA news 2018 : Home furnishing retail chain IKEA has taken an additional warehouse space in Staten Island, New York State to serve as the IKEA fulfillment center.

The new IKEA fulfillment center is expected to complement the home furnishings retailer’s seven other regional distribution centers that are catering to 47 US stores of the company.

Commenting on the new IKEA fulfillment center in Staten Island, Lars Petersson – IKEA U.S. President said:  “As we expand across the country and grow our online presence, we want to ensure we have sufficient warehouse capacity to support the efficient and timely delivery and shipment of products to our customers.

“Our goal is to increase accessibility to IKEA products, and a new fulfillment center in Staten Island will help us meet the home furnishing needs of our customers in the New York metropolitan area.”

The new IKEA distribution center in Staten Island will be primarily used for serving the online customers and those who buy larger items from the home furnishing retail chain.

IKEA News 2018 : New IKEA Distribution Center to Create 200 New Jobs

Dutch logistics company CEVA Logistics will operate the IKEA fulfillment center which will open up nearly 200 new jobs.

IKEA, which has about 1,000 suppliers across 50 countries, traditionally transports products worldwide to its home furnishings stores through local distribution centers.

The home furnishing retail chain, stated: “This customer fulfillment center and others in the future will augment the current US distribution strategy and enhance IKEA’s ability to ensure product availability for customers shopping in-store or online.”

As per the latest IKEA news 2018, the new IKEA fulfillment center of the Swedish home furnishings retailer in Staten Island is located in the Matrix Global Logistics Park with operations to begin in the latter part of the year.
