Fluor Corporation has bagged the best gas processing/LNG technology award for its Deep Dewpointing Process (DDP) at the Hydrocarbon Processing 2019 Awards held at Houston, Texas.

The Deep Dewpointing Process is Fluor’s Cryo-Gas technology solution for rich, unconventional gas applications with 6-12 gallons per minute natural gas liquid content and 500 pounds per square inch gauge (psig) to 900 psig feed pressure.

The Cryo-Gas technology solution helps a single gas processing plant to recover high levels of propane, 95% or more in ethane rejection and also ethane recovery modes without having to use a turboexpander. According to Fluor, the Deep Dewpointing Process is inherently flexible, with good turndown capacity without compromising on recovery efficiency.

Curt Graham – Fluor southern California operations manager of engineering and global gas processing technology lead said: “DDP fills a unique market niche between low recovery mechanical refrigeration plants and expensive ultra-high recovery turboexpander plants.

“With Fluor’s DDP technology, operators can easily switch between ethane recovery and rejection without losing propane recovery. This innovative approach is critical for midstream organizations that demand flexibility along with performance and capital efficiency in processing rich gas.”

Fluor said that it is working currently with Joule Processing to implement the Deep Dewpointing Process into a 60 million standard cubic-feet-per-day gas processing plant in the Colorado Denver-Julesburg Basin. According to the company, the Deep Dewpointing Process technology can significantly enhance liquids recovery efficiency in the US midstream industry, particularly for rich shale gas.
