CropX acquires precision-irrigation tools provider CropMetrics

CropX acquisition of CropMetrics : CropX, a soil sensing and agricultural analytics company, has acquired CropMetrics, a Nebraska-based cloud-based, precision-irrigation tools provider, for an undisclosed price.

The acquisition is said to enable partners and customers of both CropMetrics and CropX access to advanced farm management analytics, in-soil data, and decision-support tools.

Commenting on the CropX acquisition of CropMetrics, Tomer Tzach – CropX CEO, said: “We intend to lead the market for on-farm irrigation and nutrient management tools in the years ahead and the acquisition of CropMetrics completes a critical step towards that goal.

“By strengthening our partner network, growing our U.S. sales footprint and expanding our product offering, the acquisition will help us continue to provide affordable, scalable solutions for farmers dealing with mounting profitability challenges, resource limitations and sustainability demands.

CropMetrics adds 500,000 plus acres under management and more than 10 years of in-depth US farm data to the CropX’ farm management platform. CropMetrics is said to have a huge distribution network, user-friendly decision support platform, best-practice service model, and a variable rate irrigation (VRI) platform for pivot systems.

CropX, on the other hand, with its expertise in the internet of things (IoT) is claimed to offer accurate soil sensing technology and a decision-support platform built by in-house agronomic, data science and software teams.

The company’s farm management platform analyzes soil data and integrates it with crop models, satellite imagery, and weather forecasts and this information is used by farmers across the world to reduce crop-input costs while boosting profitability through savings in the use of fertilizer, water, energy, and labor.
