Publix distribution center in Greensboro : Publix, an employee-owned US supermarket chain has broken ground on its new refrigerated distribution centre in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The Greensboro facility, which will be the 10th distribution centre of Publix, will be spread across an area of 940,000ft².  The new Publix distribution center in Greensboro is expected to create up to 1,000 jobs across the region by the year 2025.

The supermarket chain had a ground-breaking ceremony which was attended by North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, North Carolina House Speaker Tim Moore, Greensboro mayor Nancy Vaughan and Publix CEO Todd Jones.

Publix CEO Todd Jones, commenting on the Publix distribution center in Greensboro, said: “The Greensboro Distribution Center will play a key role in supporting our growth in the region. The hundreds of new associates who join the Publix family will help us provide the premier service our customers have come to expect.”

On completion of phase one of the project, which is expected to be by the end of 2022,  the new distribution center will increase the delivery of refrigerated products to Publix locations in the Carolinas and Virginia.

Apart from the new Greensboro facility, Publix has distribution centers in Boynton Beach, Deerfield Beach, Lakeland, Jacksonville, Miami, Sarasota, Lawrenceville, Orlando, and McCalla.

Commenting on the Publix distribution center in Greensboro, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, said: “We appreciate Publix choosing to grow jobs and put down stronger roots in Guilford County and the Piedmont Triad with this new distribution facility.

Headquartered in Lakeland, Florida, Publix claims to be the largest employee-owned company in the US with over 200,000 associates. The supermarket chain operates 1,243 stores across Florida, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Virginia.
