Cisco to acquire cloud communications software firm IMImobile for $730m

US technology conglomerate Cisco has agreed to acquire UK-based cloud communications software and services provider IMImobile for 595 pence per share or nearly $730 million in cash, including debt of the latter.

IMImobile caters to enterprises and organizations with software and services which enable them to constantly stay connected to their customers via improved interactive channels including social, messaging, and voice.

The company’s Customer Interaction Management (CIM) suite is said to automate, orchestrate, and monitor interactions using disparate back-end systems. This is said to save time and reduce costs for businesses while connecting seamlessly to customers on the devices they select.

Post acquisition, Cisco expects to provide end-to-end customer interaction management solution and rich customer experiences to customer-facing businesses.

IMImobile’s team will join Cisco’s Contact Center business unit headed by Omar Tawakol, vice president and general manager of Cisco Contact Center, which is part of the Cisco Collaboration business.
