Bridgestone, a Japanese tire and rubber company, has acquired iTrack Solutions Business from Transense Technologies, a UK-based technology research licensing company, for an undisclosed price.

iTrack Solutions provides tire management solutions for the off-the-road (OTR) vehicle market. The business provides a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) that is designed specially for mining tires.

Apart from tire temperature and pressure monitoring, the iTrack tire management platform is said to offer customizable geofencing, speed alerts, and other services to enable mining customers to streamline their operations for better productivity and profitability.

Tomohiro Kusano – vice president and senior officer, G-MAA (Mining, Aircraft, Agriculture) solutions business at Bridgestone said: “This acquisition helps move Bridgestone closer to its goal of becoming a leader in sustainable and advanced mobility solutions.

“As a global solutions provider, Bridgestone will create new value for our customers by delivering tire and mobility-related data that enhances their operations.”

Bridgestone entered into a joint collaboration deal with Transense last August and started referring OTR customers to the iTrack Solutions platform at that time. The Japanese tire and rubber company said that it will expand the offering to additional OTR customers as it completely integrates the solution into its portfolio.

In order to implement a seamless transition, all employees of the iTrack Solutions Business will join Bridgestone as part of the deal.
