Barilla wraps up $130m acquisition of Catelli dry pasta business in Canada

Barilla has completed the CAD 165 million ($130 million) acquisition of the Catelli dry pasta business in Canada from Spanish food company Ebro Group.

The Catelli dry pasta business acquired by the Italian food company as per the deal signed in October 2020 includes the Catelli, Lancia, and Splendor pasta brands and the plant in Montreal, Quebec. In 2019, the dry pasta business had a turnover of CAD103.3 million ($80.5 million).

Ebro Group had said that the sale of the Canadian dry pasta business is not expected to provide any capital gain for it. The Spanish food group will maintain its footprint in the Canadian market via its dry pasta brand Garofalo, Olivieri fresh pasta and sauces brand and the Minute Rice and Tilda rice brands.
