Bakkavor acquires Haydens Bakery from Real Good Food

Bakkavor acquisition of Haydens Bakery : UK food manufacturing company Bakkavor Group has acquired Haydens Bakery, a sweet bakery products manufacturer, from Real Good Food for £12 million.

Founded in 1976, the UK-based Haydens Bakery supplies its sweet bakery products to major grocery retailers across the UK. The bakery company operates two plants in Devizes, Wiltshire, and employs around 480 people.

Bakkavor acquisition of Haydens Bakery will not involve Chantilly, a Devon-based patisserie facility which makes hand-assembled frozen desserts.

Haydens Bakery’s products include bakes premium tarts, Danish pastries, sweet buns, yum yums, pies and crumbles and doughnuts. The UK bakery company had been under Real Good Food since the group’s founding in 2003.

Hugh Cawley – CEO of Real Good Food, commenting on Bakkavor acquisition of Haydens Bakery, said: “This disposal marks an important next step in the restructuring and performance improvement of Real Good Food and is line with our turnaround plan for the Group.  Given the sizeable areas of common interest, we believe that Haydens and its staff will prosper better in partnership with Bakkavor.”

In the last 18 months, Haydens Bakery has seen a capital investment of £15 million which has been used to boost its production and footprint. For the financial year ended 31 March 2018, Haydens Bakery earned £31.3 million of revenues.

Bakkavor acquisition of Haydens Bakery is expected to grow the former’s desserts range while giving it more varieties in its in-store bakery.
