Audubon bags contract for King’s Quay FPS Project from Murphy Oil
King’s Quay FPS Project : Murphy Oil has awarded a contract to Audubon Companies pertaining to the deepwater semi-submersible floating production system (FPS) to be used for the King’s Quay development in the US Gulf of Mexico.
The contract is for providing detailed engineering and design services, and also procurement and construction support Murphy Exploration & Production is a subsidiary of Texas-based Murphy Oil.
The King’s Quay FPS facility will receive and process up to 80 MBOPD of production from the Khaleesi/Mormont and Samurai developments.
Audubon’s work in the project involves engineering and design of the entire King’s Quay FPS topsides covering all the oil, water, and gas processing trains. The EPCM services provider will also take care of the design of the topsides interfaces to the hull, crane foundations, lifesaving equipment, marine and utility systems, accommodations, and other appurtenances.

Audubon said that the King’s Quay FPS Project will have the same design approach used for the development of the Delta House FPS, which was designed by the company and owned by Murphy Oil.
King’s Quay FPS comprises two-level topsides deck which will have a 10,000-ton payload and a production capacity ranging between 80,000 BOPD and 100,000 BOPD. The gas capacity of the floating production system will be 100 MMscf/d, which can be expanded to 240 MMscf/d of gas.
The platform will be designed to bear the wind and waves from a 1,000-year storm. Final installation of the King’s Quay FPS will be in the Green Canyon area in the Gulf of Mexico with first oil expected to be produced in 2022.
