Global insurance brokerage Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. has acquired Charles W. Merriam & Son, doing business as The Merriam Agency, for an undisclosed price.

Established in 1895, Merriam Agency is a full-service insurance agency with offices in upstate New York and Colorado Springs.

The team of Merriam Agency is said to provide a full variety of commercial, personal lines, and employee benefits coverages and services. It specializes in catering to nonprofit and social service clients across the US.

Brian Merriam and his team will operate under Patrick Kennedy, who is the head of Arthur J. Gallagher’s Northeast region retail property/casualty brokerage operations.
