ResMed has launched a new nasal pillow mask called AirFit P30i, which is its second top-of-head-connected continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) mask for the treatment of sleep apnea.

The new AirFit P30i new nasal pillow mask will be available across Europe, New Zealand and Australia. ResMed will launch it across the US and Canada on 15 April and in other countries later this year.

According to the company, the CPAP mask’s “tube-up” connection, which is also a part of its AirFit N30i nasal mask launched in January, keeps tubing out of the wearer’s way to enable them to move and sleep in the position he/she wants.

With just two frame sizes and three cushions, AirFit P30i nasal pillow mask is said to fit 90% of wearers.

Jim Hollingshead – president of ResMed Sleep business said: “The AirFit P30i provides great freedom of movement for patients who want an unobtrusive nasal pillows mask.

“This unique pillows tube-up frame is a great addition to our growing mask family, and it’s easy for sleep labs and HMEs to stock and fit.”

ResMed said that in a clinical study, which compared the AirFit P30i nasal pillow mask to the other tube-up nasal pillows mask, CPAP users preferred AirFit P30i almost 2 to 1.

Further, more than 70% whose preference was based on mask seal opted for the AirFit P30i while twice as many reported that the new nasal pillow mask is easier to use and also more comfortable.

The AirFit P30i nasal pillow mask joins ResMed’s portfolio of 30-plus CPAP masks, which includes its “tube-down” nasal pillows mask, AirFit P10.

Jim Hollingshead said: “We believe that every patient is different, and we are committed to providing the best possible experience to everyone who needs CPAP therapy.

“That’s why ResMed offers a wide range of AirFit masks, and we’ll keep innovating to expand the portfolio.”
